Therapeutic Ultrasound
Therapeutic ultrasound uses high-frequency, inaudible sound waves to address a broad array of soft tissue injuries.
How Is It Administered?
Ultrasound is applied using a round-headed wand or probe that is placed in direct contact with your skin. Initially, you’ll feel the coolness of the gel used to enhance sound conduction. Then, you’ll likely experience a pleasant, warm feeling beneath your skin in the area that’s being treated.
When high-frequency sound waves are directed to the soft tissues and joints, the elevation in temperature increases blood flow to the region, relaxes muscle spasms, boosts metabolism and promotes your body’s healing response.
Conditions It Can Address
Here are some of the many conditions ultrasound can manage:
- Carpal tunnel syndrome
- Chronic shoulder pain
